Dutch voices for the Netherlands

The Dutch voices on this page are intended for projects aimed at listeners in the Netherlands.

That distinction matters in voice-over work. A recording for the Dutch market should match the way Dutch listeners expect the language to sound. Pronunciation, word choice, pace and tone all affect how natural the recording feels.

A corporate film may need a neutral voice. A commercial may need more energy. An internal training video needs clarity first.

That choice depends on the audience, the brand and the channel.

Dutch or Flemish voice-over?

Dutch and Flemish are closely related, but they are not interchangeable in professional voice-over work.

The difference is clear in accent, pronunciation, rhythm, word choice and tone. A Dutch voice may be understood in Belgium, but it will often sound noticeably different and less natural to a Flemish-speaking audience.

For professional results, use a native Dutch voice for the Netherlands and a native Flemish voice for Belgium.

Need a Belgian version too? Use a Flemish voice-over for that market.

How the process works

You can choose a Dutch voice on the platform or share your brief with the team.

A useful brief includes:
•    the script or draft script
•    the type of project
•    the target audience
•    the channel or medium
•    the intended usage
•    the preferred tone of voice
•    the deadline

Have a deadline? Add it to the brief. That does not create a delivery promise. It helps the team check what is realistic before the recording is planned.

After placing an order, you can communicate with the voice actor through the platform and give feedback where needed.

Need help before recording? VoiceProductions can support projects with casting, editing, mixing, script translation or production guidance where needed.

Pricing, usage rights and retakes

Pricing depends on the selected voice, word count, medium and, for commercial projects, usage. Organic usage is included in the price.

Commercial use is handled separately. Using the recording in a paid campaign, on radio, on TV or in another commercial context? Then the usage rights need to be checked before recording starts.

VoiceProductions clarifies the required usage rights before production starts.

Retakes are meant to fix recording mistakes, not to change the brief after recording.

If the recording contains a mistake from the voice actor, a retake can be requested.

If the script or creative direction changes after recording, that is a new request and may involve extra costs. Better to make this clear before recording starts.

Production support

A Dutch voice recording is often one part of a larger production.

The recording has to fit the final production: a campaign, company film, explainer, training module, phone system or audio guide. The team checks if the voice and delivery match the script, medium and intended use.

Need more than a voice recording? The team can also help with editing, mixing or production guidance where needed.

Choose a Dutch voice actor that fits the brief

A good demo helps. But that’s not everything.

A voice can sound strong on its own and still be wrong for your project. A corporate film needs a different delivery than a radio commercial. A phone menu needs clarity. An audio guide needs a voice people can listen to for longer than a few seconds.

Many voice profiles include demos for specific use cases, such as commercials, IVR or corporate recordings. Use those samples before you choose.

Before you choose, look at the brief.
•    Who is listening?
•    Where will the recording be used?
•    Should the voice sound formal, warm, neutral or commercial?
•    Is the project for organic use or commercial use?
•    Is there a fixed deadline?

Those answers make the shortlist better. They also prevent discussion later.

You can use Dutch voice actors for commercials, corporate videos, explainers, e-learning, IVR and telephony and audio guides.

The best voice is not always the one with the nicest demo. It is the voice that fits the audience, the medium and the intended use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Dutch voice-over?

A Dutch voice-over is a recording by a native Dutch voice actor, usually for projects aimed at listeners in the Netherlands.

Can VoiceProductions help me choose a Dutch voice?

Yes. You can browse Dutch voices yourself or ask the team for casting support when the voice has to match a specific audience, channel or brand tone.

Are usage rights included?

Organic usage is included in the price. Commercial usage is handled separately. For commercial projects, usage rights depend on the channel, duration, territory and campaign scope.

How do retakes work?

If the recording contains a mistake from the voice actor, a retake can be requested. If the script or creative direction changes after recording, that is a new request and may involve extra costs.

Can Dutch voice actors record content for both the Netherlands and Belgium?

Not recommended. Dutch and Flemish are closely related, but there are clear differences in accent, pronunciation, word choice and tone. For professional results, use a native Dutch voice for the Netherlands and a native Flemish voice for Belgium.
